A LOOK AHEAD

Due to the demand of Detroit Style rollerskating performances, in 2023 Patreze enlisted the help of veteran Detroit Style skaters to form what is now The Detroit Stylin’ Skate Club (DSSC), a non profit organization. to coach, teach, and mentor rollerskaters novice to performance and competition. With over 150 years of roller skating training and experience combined, our club is committed to cultivating the community into a positive and progressive environment for the past, present and future generations of roller skating.

The DSSC is a registered member of USA Roller Sports (USARS). In 2021, USARS introduced the Culture Roll as a unique sport featuring Detroit Style as a rollerskating discipline. Our mission is to spread the style amongst qualifying cities, states and countries with an end goal of competing in the future Olympic Games, specifically, 2028 in Los Angeles. With the recent additions of Skateboarding, Surfing and Breaking, and the increased social impact of rollerskating world wide, we believe, not only will rollerskating make it to the world’s stage but that Detroit Style will dominate. In partnership with Detroit Roller Wheels, located on Schoolcraft, we host various fundraisers, themed performances and competitions. To date, we have a total of 37 members comprised of performers, competitive athletes, coaches, administrative staff and a DJ. We’ve hosted 8 events Throughout first season, producing three Detroit Style disciplined skaters to compete at the Culture Roll – National Style Skate Competition; also hosted in Detroit on August 20, 2024.

As season 2 begins, we are welcoming our first international members from The United kingdom with plans to educate the world on our style!
